Several Beginner
Bonsai Trees

Chinese Elm is a great beginner bonsai tree.
Now technically I guess you could say it should be an outdoor tree., But is possible to raise indoors. At least most of the time.

Another good choice for a bonzi beginner would be a Ficus. It grows fast under the right conditions. And can keep you busy through the winter. It tolerates being indoors well during the winter too.

A third choice would be Junipers. They too grow pretty fast which gives you something to practice pinching and pruning on.

Those are some easier to handle plants. Just remember, most bonsai are not by nature indoor plants. They'll die if you keep them inside all year. Because they need a period of dormancy to survive.
